World Jujitsu Championships: 40 year celebrations
150 athletes from around the globe will converge on the Gold Coast next weekend to take on the world’s finest Jujitsu artists.
WCJJO World Jujitsu Board Member Roger Quick said the Gold Coast, Australia will stand alongside of countries like the USA, England, Argentina, Canada, Switzerland and New Zealand as having had the opportunity to host such prestigious Championships.
“The Gold Coast was recently recognised... by the International Festivals and Events Association as a World Festival and Event City”. “It was therefore an easy decision for us to pick the Gold Coast as the host of the World Jujitsu Championships in 2017” he said.
“With the first ever Championships held in Hawaii back in 1977, we wanted to take the event somewhere special to commemorate our 40th year. Once we announced that the Gold Coast was the next destination, there was a real level of excitement from our members and we are therefore expecting bigger numbers across all categories” he said.
There will be medal divisions for both men and women in individual and team events including sport jujitsu, grappling BJJ, demonstration and master’s categories.
The competition will be held over three full days at the Tallebudgera Leisure Centre, commencing on Friday 27th October, with the formal opening ceremony being held on Saturday 28th October at 9:00am. The event is open to members of the public to spectate with tickets available at the door.

Hello Master Gatt,

Just a big thank you from myself and my husband to all at The Pit.

It was hard to get our son there on a night he normally has as free time, we talked it up all week previously explaining to him that he will love and benefit from this combined class.

He came home so happy that he went and seemed to get a lot out of it. The smile on his face when he came in the door said it all to me. He even showed me a few new moves he learnt.

Thanks once again in looking after our son and taking him on this journey and inspiring him. We are proud of what he has achieved so far and can see great improvement both physically, emotionally and mentally.   Looking forward to more learning and growing from him.
