In sports like boxing, a pugilist learns to persevere after getting his nose bloodied. But in martial arts, the student learns how to get up after getting knocked down by his adversary. Students are taught that not all sparring ends with a win. Therefore, they must learn how to take a loss with pride and conceal this feeling of anger and resentment. If your child is exposed to humiliation early, they will learn how to handle failures and disappointments in their life. From doing poorly in the swimming pool to getting tackled in a football match, they will gain the skills to get up when things go wrong.
View Failure As An Opportunity
People with an abundance mentality view a missed opportunity or failure in life as a stepping-stone to greater knowledge and success.
When they fail, they bounce back.
In the words of Winston Churchill, “Success is walking from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.”
Failure
is what builds resilience. If you want to achieve success in life, you need to embrace failure.
Don’t view it as a deficit, but rather a lesson that teaches you more about who you are and what you are capable of.
