Black Belt in Ben Kan Ryuha Kobu Jutsu Kenjutsu

The PIT Community is celebrating today, as Mr. Watson has officially achieved the rank of Black Belt in Ben Kan Ryuha Kobu Jutsu Kenjutsu.

From the very beginning, it was unmistakable that his love for the sword—and for this intricate, demanding, and deeply traditional art—was a genuine driving force.

During his grading, the swordsmanship he demonstrated was pure, refined, and seemingly effortless. Every movement reflected countless hours of disciplined home practice. His precision, efficiency, and calm control shone through across every weapon in the system: Jo, Bokken, Shinai, Tanto, Escrima, Sai, and Sword.

Mr. Watson, Shihan Ben DiPede would have cherished every moment of your grading last night, proudly supported by the other Kobu Black Belts.

Congratulations—your Sho Dan Black Belt rank is truly and fully deserved.

And it’s only Wednesday.

With another two huge nights ahead, close to 100 of our members will put their dedication, resilience, and commitment to the test before the week is done. Preparing this many students—mentally, physically, and emotionally—is a massive undertaking. Every individual comes with their own needs, fears, challenges, and personal hurdles. This level of readiness can only be achieved with a dedicated team like our PIT Crew, who show up consistently, lead from the front, and do whatever is required to give our students the courage to believe in themselves.

What an incredible way to close out the year before we shift into Christmas mode and celebrate everyone’s hard-earned achievements during our final week of training.
